The Creation of the Hound's Tooth Card
 |
After his previous ship was demolished by Chewbacca and Han Solo, the Trandoshan
bounty hunter, Bossk, modified the Corellian YV-666 to meet his own needs. This
agressively inspired design proved to be a vehicle complex in structure and function.

Like many of the projects offered to our artists, the re-creation of the Hound's
Tooth proved challenging. As with other never-before-seen Star Wars ships, existing
visual guides are rare, and are often not considered reliable guides for realistically
re-creating them, especially three dimensionally. Rob Burns studied the pencil
sketch for details (shown above) and gathered technical proportions from the "blueprint"
diagram (below). With this visual information, and with information from written
descriptions, he began the process of "creating reality."

"...We use Power macs with lots of RAM, high powered CPU's, Photoshop to do
the surface maps (color, bump, transparency, glow, specular, etc.) 2D shapes,
final image adjustment, and Strata Studio Pro to do the 3D modeling and raytracing."
