(Norfolk, VA June 28, 2003) Decipher's The Lord of the
Rings Roleplaying Game was awarded Best Roleplaying Game of 2002
last night at the 29th Annual Origins Awards ceremony in Columbus, Ohio.
Decipher's RPG Studio Game Designer Christian Moore was on hand to accept
the award for Best Roleplaying Game.
"We are very proud of The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game
and are extremely pleased to see that the rest of the gaming community believes
in it as much as we do," said Warren Holland, Decipher's chairman and chief
executive officer. "Our game designers work extremely hard to develop roleplaying
games that stay true to the property and we believe that we have accomplished
this with The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game."
Voting for Best Roleplaying Game was open to the public. The Origins Awards,
which are presented by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design, celebrate
the best in board, roleplaying, miniatures, trading card games, professional
and amateur magazine publications, game-related fiction, play-by-mail game
design, and gaming accessories and supplements.
