Reitzel finishes Rhode Island (Warren) and slips back into Massachusetts
(Milford). Bounty tournaments at both stops go get'im!
Here's his report from Tuesday.
Tuesday 5/20 Hello, Black Rider followers! Day 4 brings me to
the Dragons Lair in West Hartford, CT. When I first saw the store front
, I thought it would be a small modest size store. However
when I entered I was surprised by how much gaming space it had. It reminded
me of Doctor Who and his famous phone booth "Tardis" :-)
Decipher volunteer Jeremy Oaks ran the tournament of 14 players. The
winner of the tournament was Ken Asensio who went undefeated.
Ricky Hoffman handed me my only loss to win the entire Bounty Prize
box of Two Towers. He deserved it! His Uruk-hai minions controlled 4 sites.
I was helpless to his minion onslaught. I was playing Rohan and had 3
allies that had to be discarded 'cause he controlled their home site.
I had never seen happen before!

The Fierce prize went to Decipher Product Champion John Mullarkey. I
played him in my last game. His hand draw was terrible and wasn't pulling
enough Free Peoples cards. By site 4 he finally played a few companions.
Unfortunately he played them to "Ered Nimrais" which added 3 to the twilight
cost of each. He had 7 companions in his Fellowship. When he moved to
site 5 he ended up giving me 35 twilight pool! My whole hand was minions.
I had controlled a site and played "Hill Chief" to draw 3 more cards in
my Shadow phase. I played 9 minions on him, several who were fierce. Due
to his "Defend it and Hope" and "Aragorn, Heir of Elindil" (Defender +1)
he survived! Well, I think John is well deserving of the Fierce prize:-)
I'm off to Rhode Island tomorrow. Till next time......
