NEWS RELEASE
DECIPHER TRADING CARD GAME STUDIO

LOG IN TO .hack//ENEMY: EPIDEMIC

FEATURING LEVEL 2.0 PCs, NEW MONSTERS, AND
SOMETHING CALLED "GRUNTIES"!

(Norfolk, VA–March 25, 2004) – Decipher is proud to announce Epidemic, the second expansion to its popular .hack//ENEMY trading card game. Epidemic releases to hobby gaming stores on May 19, 2004 and takes the game to a whole new level!

Level 2.0 PCs will make their debut in Epidemic, which will give players more powerful PCs and the ability to Level Up! their favorites! In Epidemic, Mia, Elk, Crim, and Subaru will have Level 2.0 versions as well as brand new PCs like Balmung and Tim! PCs will get support from a new PC pet – Grunties! Fans of the .hack anime and PlayStation®2 video games will recognize these hungry and cuddly creatures. The more you feed them, the more powerful their game-changing effects can be! Six different grunties will be introduced in Epidemic.

And with bigger PCs come bigger monsters. Epidemic introduces new monster types such as mimics, demons, and earth elementals. Plus, many of your favorite monsters are now attacking in groups, such as the Hungry Grass Patch and Sky Fish School. Epidemic also includes new powerful Phase Four and Phase Five bosses; Fidchell and Gorre.

"Epidemic definitely takes .hack//ENEMY TCG to the next level," said Chuck Kallenbach, Decipher Senior Game Designer. "The world of .hack is based on characters playing in an MMORPG and the objective is to 'level up'. The new level 2.0 PCs reflect the progression of character development and increased power."

Epidemic introduces 100 new cards to the .hack//ENEMY TCG universe featuring 27 common, 27 uncommon, 27 rare, 9 Xtra rare foils, and 10 starter foils. Two different 60-card starter decks (MSRP $11.99) will be available, Mia and Elk, and each will contain a mixture of cards from Epidemic and previous sets as well as five new starter-only premium foil cards. Eleven-card booster packs (MSRP $3.29) will feature one rare or Xtra rare plus a mixture of common and uncommon cards, all from the new Epidemic expansion. Xtra rare foils appear in approximately 1 in 8 booster packs.

Release day event tournaments will be held the week of May 19th at retail locations in North America and the UK. Members of Decipher's Preferred Retailer program may purchase release tournament kits containing 25 exclusive new Epidemic release foils for their customers, a plush gruntie, and a Balmung t-shirt to award to the tournament winner. These kits may be purchased at retailers.decipher.com. Retailers who pre-order .hack//ENEMY TCG Epidemic from their authorized Decipher distributor by April 14, 2004 will receive 30 special Sphinx Menhir .hack//ENEMY TCG Epidemic foil cards to offer to their customers who spend $10 on .hack//ENEMY TCG Epidemic. Supplies are limited for both programs.

Providing unprecedented support in the TCG industry, Decipher "Hackers" (members of Decipher's Sales and Marketing team, TCG Studio and Art Department) will hit the road on the second leg of our national Level Up! Tour in April. Stopping at retailers across the northern U.S. and southern Canada, the Hackers will demo the game, participate in bounty tournaments, and give out exclusive Kaochin promo cards.
