GenCon Indy 2004 Attendees To Get First Look At
The Mumon Rift Wars Trading Card Game
Invitation-Only Event Announced
(Norfolk, VA–July 14, 2004) – GenCon Indy 2004 will be the first
chance the public will get to see and play Decipher's highly anticipated
new trading card game, The Mumon Rift Wars TCG.
On Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 11:00am, invited guests and ticket holders
will be able to attend a presentation from Decipher about the new game and
property. Only the first 1,000 ticket holders in line will be admitted to
what is expected to be a standing-room only event. Preferred seating tickets
are available in the form of a DecipherCon 2004 badge, which will be available
in the DecipherCon 2004 Convention Kit. These will be available at the Decipher
booth while supplies last. General admission tickets have been widely distributed
in the form of the WARS TCG preview postcard that was sent out to all Decipher
Preferred Retailers. These preview postcards will also be included in special
bagged editions of Scrye #75 and Comics And Games Retailer #150. Both of
these issues will be available at GenCon Indy 2004.
"The timing of the October 6th release date of WARS TCG was fortunate
in that it allowed us to use our DecipherCon 2004 activities at GenCon Indy
2004 to showcase this exciting new game," said Scott Gaeta, VP of Sales
and Marketing for Decipher. "In 2001, we held a similar presentation for
The Lord of the Rings TCG that generated a lot of excitement. Our
goal is to make this presentation even bigger, with more prizes, bigger
celebrities, and an event that will leave the attendees wanting more!"
Attendees will receive special, limited edition WARS TCG items such as
WARS TCG demo decks, a WARS TCG t-shirt, and other great prizes.
"In 2001, we hid gold rings under nine of the chairs, and on my cue, made
everyone 'search for the Ring'," said Mark Tuttle, Decipher Public Relations
& Marketing Manager and host for the WARS TCG Preview Event. "Those
nine people were each given Decipher The Lord of the Rings TCG and
RPG product for life! I'm not saying you need to turn your chairs over when
you come in, but we do have some surprises planned!"
The presentation will consist of the first look at the completed cards
for WARS TCG, and a panel of Decipher game designers will be on-hand to
answer questions about the game and the expansive property that Decipher
is creating. Special guests at this presentation will include best-selling
science fiction writer Michael Stackpole, who will be present to explain
his involvement in the backstory of the project and to deliver the first
fiction based on The Mumon Rift Wars™. Decipher is also proud
to welcome John Howe, the conceptual artist for The Lord of the Rings
film trilogy, who will discuss his design of the alien race known as The
Quay.
Seating for the presentation in the White River Ballroom will begin at
10:30am. DecipherCon Badge holders and invited guests should arrive by no
later than 10:30am. General ticket holders will be seated at 10:45am. Once
the room reaches capacity, no one else will be admitted regardless of the
type of ticket they're holding.
