The Big Weta Collection Bug Hunt #1

July 28, 2004 – RESULTS

The Weta Collection summer promotion has begun, and this week's card is Ghân-buri-Ghân, Chieftain of the Woses. You can get your copy of each week's card with any $10 (or €10) purchase of The Lord of the Rings TCG at your participating retailer. And if you're willing to go on a little scavenger hunt on our website for the Weta bug, you can win a copy of the current card in the Big Weta Collection Bug Hunt!

Here's how it works. Hidden somewhere in The Lord of the Rings pages on this website (or in the card list pages on shop.decipher.com) is an image of the first of five Weta bugs. He's named Bug #1 (as shown at right), and your task is to find him (or her, as the case may be), tell us what page he or she is on, and answer a simple question about something else on that page. Only a bug labelled Bug #1 counts – not bugs in the Weta Workshop logo images that have appeared in some articles (like the one above), and not the one on this page. Only one entry per person, household, or email address!

The Answers

URL: http://www.decipher.com/lordoftherings/rules/index.html
This is The Lord of the Rings TCG "RULES & FAQs" page.

What are the first two words of the line of text just below Bug #1? Rules Questions

A few entrants apparently overlooked the portion of the instructions which explicitly stated that the Bug #1 image on the contest page itself was not the correct answer, and that the bug had to be labelled Bug #1 (i.e., a bug labelled "Weta Workshop" is not correct). Also, some must have read the question too hastily, because it called for the first two words of the line of text below the bug. "RULES & FAQS" appears above the bug.

A note on what was and was not accepted: for the URL, the omission of www. was OK, because depending on how you got to the website to start with, that may be what appeared in your location field. For the question, I ignored capitalization and the presence or absence of the question mark that appears after those two words. However, "Rules question" (singular) was not accepted.

The Winners

Out of 583 valid entries received (a few more were disqualified – only one entry per person is allowed), 549 located the correct bug and answered the question correctly. Our three winners, randomly selected from the 549, are:

Edward Gray
Fredericksburg, VA

Jason Koyish
Fremont, MI

Tony Holley
East Point, GA

Congratulations! Your prizes will be shipped after the Weta Collection promotion is over. If you have any questions, please direct them to webmaster@decipher.com and specify by title exactly which contest you are enquiring about.
