Challenges and Championships: Day Two Wrapup

A rainy Friday morning didn't deter Gen Con/DecipherCon attendees in the slightest. Ignoring the weather, they filled the Decipher booth once again.

WARS TCG was everywhere. The demo tables were full, all WARS, all day, right up till the 6:00 PM closing of the exhibit hall. The volunteers manning the demo tables, the store, and the tournament hall were all clad in the exclusive WARS TCG T-shirts that will be distributed to attendees of the invitation-only WARS TCG presentation on Saturday. Green Earther, blue Shi, and tan Quay faction shirts were seen, thoughGongen and Maverick had yet to make an appearance.

Amidst all the WARS demos, there was still room for a few other activities on the booth. Worlds Apart's eight LOTR Online TCG stations got a heavy workout throughout the day; Decipher Game Studio members played challenge matches; and Ed Gartin, from Decipher's Art department, reviewed the portfolios of artists interested in illustrating future expansions of WARS TCG.

In the convention hall, Lord of the Rings TCG and Star Trek CCG players who qualified yesterday joined previous qualifiers from territorials and continentals in Day Two World Championship heats. The top 16 players in each game will advance to Day Three. Friday was also the second "Day 1" heat for .hack//ENEMY TCG, and Lord of the Rings TCG held a Premier Series Invitational. And at 9 PM, when most tournaments were finished or at least winding down, another Decipher game's World Championship – Austin Powers CCG – was just getting started.
