First the Continent, Then the World:
Andrew Ehret Takes the Star Trek CCG Championship!
At the end of Day 3 of the Star Trek CCG World Championships, Raymond Linton
and Andrew Ehret were the last men standing meaning they got to rise
and shine for an 8:00 AM final confrontation on Sunday. It took three rounds
to determine the champ, with 2004 North American Continental Champion Andrew
Ehret coming out on top.

Ehret, an engineer with a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Illinois, started
playing Star Trek CCG with the introduction of Second Edition. (His one
foray into First Edition was a Voyager Warp Speed tournament, in which he
lost to then-nine-year-old Eve Bowling.) He has now won 11 tournaments in
a row, including not only the Continentals, but also the Illinois Maiden
Voyage and Territorial Open this year. He has previously played Star Wars
CCG, and "maybe" will pick up WARS TCG this fall.

Since both players had played Klingon on Day 3, each separately decided
to be ready to counter his opponent's Klingon deck. As a result, "Both
of us brought Bajoran decks today, with Klingon-oriented dilemma piles,"
said Andrew. This made for a close match: Andrew won his first round in
the best 2 of 3 final match, lost his second, and finally won the third
to take the title.
What does he plan to do with his winnings? "I don't know yet what
I'm going to do with the $1000 cash," he said, "but the Decipher
dollars will go for a plasma screen TV on the Rewards Store."
Congratulations to our new World Champion!
