Daniels, Temporal Enforcer
by Justin Beal
Daniels
is an interesting personnel. First, his is the first character from the
Star Trek: Enterprise series, but that is just to start. What skills
do you give a time traveler? Anthropology and Archaeology seem to be a stretch,
but his interest in "ancient Earth" history seems to apply here. However
all his other skills fit like a glove. He is not entirely human, which is
a disappointment, but his skills and attributes more than make up for it.
It helps any deck looking for a source of Intelligence with some more well
rounded skill selection (as opposed to the other Non-Aligned Intelligence
personnel we currently have)
He has the [Fut] icon which means he can be downloaded and put into play
with The Edge of Forever. As you will see, the [Fut] icon has other benefits
as well and no negative impact. So as a selective shopper trying to find
each snippet of deck space in your deck, why would you play with this card?
Well, he can never die, how's that? Sure he can be discarded, and if he
is selected to die he doesn't exactly stay in play, but he gets shuffled
back into your deck to be used again. With all the killing dilemmas out
there being able to just shuffle him into your draw deck is a HUGE advantage.
Not only does he not die, he has a diverse skill selection. Some skills
have what can be called generalizations for what attributes are used to
solve those missions. Since he is a 6-6-6 he is not a detriment to any deck
type and his skills help fill holes in those decks. Serova adds one to his
cunning to take him out of Chula: Echoes range, and at 3 cost he doesn't
get stopped by In Training. He is easily one of the most diverse characters
in the game to date and should find his way into almost every tournament
or fun deck.
