Collapse Anti-Time Anomaly
by Geoffery Peterson
If
you're looking for one last mission to include in your deck for point gain,
Collapse Anti-Time Anomaly probably isn't the best choice, regardless of
what affiliation(s) you are playing. The skill requirements of Astrometrics,
Engineer, Leadership, and Physics aren't that hard to have (especially in
a Federation mutant type deck), but the attribute requirement of Cunning
> 36 is a pretty hefty one to meet, especially for a mission worth only
35 points.
The big draw this mission has is its ability when attempting. If there
are no dilemmas overcome beneath the mission, you may download any Q card.
At the time of Fractured Time's release, there will be four Q cards in existence,
with The Trial Never Ended and Quarantine being the most likely targets
for download (the other two Q cards being A Second Chance at Life, and More
Than Meets the Eye). The download of these cards early in your game will
have two major benefits. First, you're getting cards that you want in hand
without paying the 1 counter to draw them (it could be argued that you are
having to take time to get to the mission and download them, but as long
as you do it early game, you probably wouldn't have been attempting a mission
with 4 people anyway, so no real time lost), and second, by downloading
the Q events, your draw deck will be smaller, allowing you to draw through
to other necessary cards with more ease.
Combos:
Collapse Anti-Time Anomaly + Worf, Security Detail Leader + any two
ships: Fly your two ships to Collapse Anti-Time Anomaly, use Worf to
peek at the top card of your opponent's dilemma pile to make sure that it
is not a cost 0 or 1 Space or Dual dilemma (so that it may not be played
and overcome), then have a single personnel attempt the mission from one
ship to download a Q card. Repeat until you either have all the Q cards
you want, you run out of personnel to attempt with, or see a troublesome
dilemma on top of your opponent's pile.
Collapse Anti-Time Anomaly + The Trial Never Ended + (Whispers in the
Dark or Tsiolkovski Infection): Use the mission to download three copies
of The Trial Never Ended early in the game, and play them to help lessen
the cost of the two "biggie killer" dilemmas.
Collapse Anti-Time Anomaly + Data, Loyal Brother + any of the Q events:
If your deck is running the cheap Data, and you don't want to run lots of
Events to make sure he stays unstopped, this mission can make his cost to
stay useful much easier to bear. Just stock up on Events early on, and you
should be good for the remainder of the game.
