Spreading Fear
by Michael van Breemen
For an affiliation that has the hatched warriors in the Jem'Hadar and the
tactician/slimy Vorta, they don't really get a lot in the way of engagements
that's strictly their own with their own peculiarities. That is, until now.
This three cost, three decay engagement event requires the Dominion player
to place a card of their choice on this card to start the engagement. If
they win, you get to randomly select opponent's personnel based on the number
of Vortas involved, then you pick whom you want to die out of those people.
Needing to pick off that lone thorn in your side might behoove you to stock
more Vortas than before to help make sure that your target is locked on,
so to speak. After all, you're stocking Vortas anyway to staff your Dominion
ships, you have access to 9 and 10 Weapon ships already, couple that with
a kill-oriented dilemma pile and you could be sitting pretty, picking off
people at will. What's nice about this event is the fact that, until you
decay it completely, you can use it whenever you want.
Seven different Vortas (including the non-unique Tholun) + Spreading
Fear: "No, Mr. Kahless, I expect you... to... die..." **cue evil laughter
among cohorts and the obligatory pinky smirks all around**
However, if you're not interested in the odds of chance and prefer a more
sure thing
Set Up (with Infiltrator present) + Vorta of your choice + Spreading
Fear: "I don't know how I could have ever gotten so lucky as to pick
you, Mr. Data. Maybe it's just my luck with androids, since your brother
Lore died the turn before..."
While it won't turn the game's head on its ear, it does give the Dominion
some other kind of options to play with in terms of engagements. That and
it gives them something to do with those VR Headsets besides watching Baywatch...
