The Lord of the Rings TCG Brand Manager: An Introduction
There have been more than a few internal changes at Decipher, and one
of them was the creation of a new position Brand Manager for
each of our trading card games. My name is Dan Bojanowski and I am the Brand
Manager for The Lord of the Rings TCG. To some of you, my name
will be a familiar one. You've probably seen it attached to announcements
about tournaments. Others will know me as "Bojo" who works in the tournament
hall at all of the conventions. For the past three and a half years, I've
been in charge of the organized play programs at Decipher. So... what is
a Brand Manager and what does that matter to you as a player? Let me start
with the marketing glossary definition of Brand Manager:
Job Description: Brand managers plan, develop, and direct the
marketing efforts for a particular brand or product. It is not uncommon
for a brand manager to be responsible for coordinating activities of specialists
in production, sales, advertising, promotion, research and development,
marketing research, purchasing, distribution, package development, and
finance.
That sums it up pretty well, but it could be simplified to say:
Job Description: Brand managers are responsible for overseeing
all aspects for a particular brand or product.
So if it has to do with The Lord of the Rings TCG, it will pass
by my desk. That's a lot of responsibility, and I know that there are many
die-hard LOTR:TCG fans that expect and deserve a quality product. How can
one person possibly know what's best for an entire product line with thousands
of fans? With lots of input from players like you, that's how! I plan on
making myself available to listen to the players in multiple ways.
First off, I've created a special "A Word from the Brand Manager" message
board in The Lord of the Rings TCG forums where I will share
tidbits about upcoming sets, promotions, and products. This might also give
you an interesting glimpse into the inner workings at Decipher. I'll also
use this board to create polls, ask questions, and present ideas to players
before they are implemented. You will be able to post comments and questions
on the LOTR:TCG Everything
Else board and I'll do my best to answer them honestly and quickly.
You can expect at least one update or opportunity for feedback per week.
Secondly, I will be creating a LOTR:TCG newsletter. This newsletter will
keep players informed about all things happening with LOTR:TCG. Who knows?
I may even spoil some cards in the newsletter. This newsletter will be sent
out twice per month to those who sign up. Look for more information in the
next few weeks about subscribing to this newsletter.
Finally, my inbox is always open. You can email me directly at
with any questions or concerns. I'd love to hear about things that are working
for your community and things that need some help. Please let me know how
you think we could improve The Lord of the Rings TCG.
Working together, we can make The Lord of the Rings TCG the best
game on the market with the best community!
Thanks.
