Dude, Where's the Star Trek Brand Manager?
Hi, I'm Erika Stensvaag and I'm here to "manage the brand" of Star
Trek CCG. I started working here at Decipher earlier this year so my
name probably isn't familiar to you. I know all the STCCG players have lots
of ideas on what should come next for the game, and I'm ready to hear them.
I guess I better slow down here and answer the question on everyone's
mind: what is a brand manager?
Your guess now is probably as good as mine was several weeks ago when
Chuck Kallenbach, Dan Bojanowski, and I sat in a meeting with the big guys
and were officially knighted as The Brand Team.
Officially, this is what we do:
Brand managers plan, develop, and direct the marketing efforts for
a particular brand or product. It is not uncommon for a brand manager
to be responsible for coordinating activities of specialists in production,
sales, advertising, promotion, research and development, marketing research,
purchasing, distribution, package development, and finance.
But, the bottom line is if something is happening with Star Trek
CCG, I probably have a hand (or at least a pinky finger) in it.
Let me start over I'm Erika and I'm the new brand manager of STCCG.
Technically, my title is "Brand Assistant," but I have all the same goals
as Chuck and Bojo. A big part of my job is to keep in touch with the player
base and to understand what the players want and need. That's a lot to keep
track of, so I plan to stay in touch in several ways.
To start, there's a new message board in the Star Trek CCG forums
currently called A
Word from the Brand Manager (descriptive, huh?) where I'll
periodically post news on promotions, bits about the new expansions, and
polls, and generally pick your brains. You'll be able to respond to and
even question my posts on the Everything
Else board.
I'll also be starting a bi-weekly newsletter for STCCG. It'll come right
to your inbox every other week chock full of information about the latest
STCCG events. Maybe there'll even be some exclusive spoilers you
never know what I'll be able to get away with…
And, you can always email me at
to tell me what's working for you and what isn't.
Star Trek CCG has a lot of history and this is our chance to write
its future. The second ten-year mission begins now.
