I had a bit of spare time, and I noticed a lot of people in different topics saying someone should put together a list of the top mentioned characters. I went through almost all the topics (yeah, I skipped a couple of them, but I got the major ones and a few of the smaller ones). I cross referenced my list to make sure I wasn’t counting the same person twice for any one character, but I kept every character each person mentioned (I didn’t stop at 10 or anything). I got a total of 271 different people, 3264 character votes, and a total of 1566 different characters.

If anyone sees any errors, like having the same character in two different spots, or the use of both the real name and nickname of a character, feel free to let me know and I’ll change it.

I hope this list is helpful to Decipher in deciding which licenses to go for as there were a lot of things that were only voted (using the term vote loosely) for once or twice while there were others (James Bond had the most with 35 votes) who were well above that. Enjoy.

Outside of the fact that Abraham Van Helsing and Van Helsing (3) are the same person, I see no errors (I know they are the same because I think I’m the only person who put “Abraham” in front of it…). GREAT job, must have taken a lot of work to get that done. I applaud your efforts!

Naw, seriously, that’s pretty amazing. It does leave me wishing that I’d mentioned Wolverine a bit more in the posts—he deserves a really high number. I haven’t made any lists yet…perhaps I’ll make a list of all of the lists… (don’t actually look for that one from me :-P )

Unless I’m confused about something I think Count Dracula and Dracula are the same person but I cpuld be mistaken. People that voted for them, (I did :)should clarify this, but for me they’re the same.

Also not sure if Beatrix Kiddo and The Bride are the same person.

As well as General Maximus Decimus Meridius and Maximus Decimus Meridius. ALthough the first one could refer to his time as general and the second to his time as gladiator, but in general I think they’re the same.

Thanks again for the list, it’s a lot of work. I think this is really helpful, not just to Decipher, but to us; seeing the list I remembered lots of characters I didn’t think of them when I wrote mi top ten list and deserve to get a vote.

Just a few minor things. Evangeline Lilly is the name of the actress that plays Kate in Lost. Unless the vote was actually for the actress herself I think they probably meant the character she plays. Rand and Rand al’Thor are probably the same person as well. The Pink Panther is probably supposed to be Inspector Clouseau unless they meant the actual cartoon character. Arvin loane should be Arvin Sloane. And lastly, Captain Jean-Luc and Captain Picard are the same person so they can be combined.

And I hope whoever suggested Katie Couric was joking. And Oprah… PETA… and the Golden Girls get a big WTF. And I’m not sure I even wanna know who Fruit Frakker is, lol. Looking over this further, maybe we should start suggesting names for removal – the ones that, aside from being funny to suggest, should never, ever, ever be put into this game.

Yu Law definitely deserves a nod, he’d fit right into this game I think, lol. Even though the movie was cheesy and had a few inconsistencies, which I don’t really want to get into atm, you gotta love a character that ends the movie with, “I am Yu Law, I am nobody’s bitch!” and then proceeds to start a king-of-the-hill style fight with all the prison inmates.

Whoever suggested Captain N, awesome, he’s really old school.

And Gambit, why did Marvel abandon you? I remember the days when you were everyone’s favorite x-man, and then they shame you by completely shutting you out of all three movies. It’s completely unforgivable.

I agree with your assessment of Uwe Boll, but giving him a card would be giving him free publicity, and that is all he really wants. So the question then becomes whether or not you give him what he wants, and thus the reason I nominated him for removal.

K, think I adjusted everything that was found so far, and adjusted the overall character count. I personally am not going to be removing any characters from the list, although I don’t agree with a bunch of them that are up there, I want there to be an accurate count of what’s been voted for. I might make a seperate list later in this thread for any new characters that are suggested, like Yu Law, but I’m just gonna try to keep this list complete and correct for now.

Even though I agree with pretty much all the characters you elected for removal Blost, I do think some of them would be funny as tournament prizes or free give aways, I just wouldn’t want to see them in any set.

Oh, and this took me about… 4 hours? Just put everything onto a spreadsheet.

4 hours isn’t so bad, I figured it would’ve taken a lot longer than that. Yeah, that’s pretty much what I meant about the removal names, I would rather see sets full of characters that would be worthy of the spots they fill instead of public figures, politicians, and characters that wouldn’t last more than 2 seconds in a fight. Promos and prizes would be fine.

Also, I wasn’t adding more names, just agreeing with a few I noticed that I didn’t think of when I was putting together my top ten in the other thread.

The list is truly epic, the suggestions here could make many years worth of sets.

@Blost: I don’t really want Uwe Boll in the game that was a joke. As I’ve stated many times before I really must make better use of these… :P :) :-0 etc. And clever censor you’re right I don’t want to know who that is either…

No kidding. At least phpBB 3.0 or it’s equivalent. At least there, I would kinda feel like I know what I’m doing. (and I know how to do the neat little things like add smilies and new forums and such)

Having gone from forum administrator of a gaming clan with phpBB 3.0 to a simple user with this interface, it REALLY feels archaic.

And then there are those of us who are involved in an online forum for the first time with FK. I guess I just don’t know what I’m missing.

To anyone who’s interested: Fruit F*er is a character from the Penny Arcade web comic. That’s pretty much all I know, can’t stand the comic and the only reason I know the character even exists is that it already has its own card in the Penny Arcade CCG (part of UFS).

So we’re not likely to see it any time soon. Thankfully.
