How to Play

The rules are pretty simple and play like the Truth or Dare game a lot of kids play when they make up their own questions and dares. In this game, the questions have been taken from the best-selling book, The Kids' Book of Questions, and we also give you lots of silly dares to perform.

Setting up the game
Put the two decks of cards in the middle of the players. Take turns (usually the youngest player is given the option of going first or last) drawing cards from the "Truth" deck to answer probing questions or the "Dare" deck to perform funny stunts instead! Answering the question or performing the dare scores you points. (There are 1 and 2 point questions and dares.) If you don't do either, you lose 2 points and play passes to the next player. Also, if there is any question about whether or not the player successfully answers the question or performs the dare, the group votes on whether or not to give the person points -- and the majority rules!

To keep things interesting, we offer you two different ways to play the game. You and your friends can decide which version you like best.

Traditional Truth or Dare
Minimum Choice
In this version of the game, each player takes a turn as the subject. The subject picks the "Truth" or "Dare" category. Then the subject chooses the point category (1 or 2 points). The player to the subject's right then draws the top card from the category ("Truth" or "Dare") and reads the question or dare out loud to the subject. The subject has to answer the question truthfully or perform the dare in order to score the point(s). If they don't want to answer the question or perform the dare, they lose 2 points and the turn passes to thenextplayer. Thefirst playerto score25 points wins!

Modern Truth or Dare
Challenger's Choice
Each player takes a turn being the challenger. During the challenger's turn, that player draws two "Truth" cards and two "Dare" cards, then selects a player to be the subject. The subject gets to pick the "Truth" or "Dare" category and the point value (1 or 2 points). If the subject selects the "Truth" question, then the challenger chooses which one of the questions they have to answer and reads the question out loud. If the subject answers the question truthfully, they score the point(s). If they don't want to answer the question, the challenger picks a "Dare" from the same point category previously chosen. If the subject performs the dare successfully, they score the point(s). If the player doesn't answer the question or perform the dare, they lose 2 points. If the subject selects the "dare," the challenger chooses which one of the dares the subject has to perform and reads it out loud. If the subject successfully performs the dare, they score the points. If they don't want to perform the dare, the challenger picks a question from the same point category previously chosen. If the subject answers the question truthfully, they score the points. If the player doesn't perform the dare or answer the question, they lose 2 points. Then the challenger discards the used cards, draws replacement cards from the deck and poses questions or dares to all of the other players before his turn ends. Then play passes to the next challenger. The first player to score 25 points wins!
