DEATH STAR II Q & A
By Tom Lischke, Game Designer
PART I
Q: Do we pay the deploy cost of "Insignificant Rebellion" and "I Feel The
Conflict" when they are played with their respective Objective (at the start of
the game) ?
Stephane, France
A: Nope. Cards required or allowed by the Objective at start are free.
Q: Why have you put land components in DSII? You had a whole expansion
for land (material) in Endor. This should have been the space expansion. It seems
to me more like you ran out of ideas for space stuff, rather than just trying
to follow the flow of the movie.
Jeremy, California
A: The original intent was for this to be the "Space Expansion," but some
design requirements got in the way. One of our goals was to provide a new gameplay
experience with the Endor/Death Star II closed environment. To balance this environment,
we realized that we needed to add a few cards that were related to the Endor sites.
That being said, I think that you will still feel, when opening packs, that the
set adequately represents the space battle.

Q: Ok, the idea
of turning Luke or Vader with the new Objectives is really cool in Death Star
II, as is the instant winning, but what is the point of not being able to use
the crossed characters?
Erik "Bardez" Frantz, Illinois (Tom's comment: Why Bardez?)
A: Well, frankly, we felt like the tension of the game would be enhanced
if the players knew they were playing for all the marbles. Star Wars is, essentially,
the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. When he is redeemed, what more is
there to say?
Q: Will there be an Interrupt (hopefully immune to Sense) for the Light
Side that cancels "The Emperor's Power"?
Ingo Kaiser (Tom's comment: Bavaria? Cool!)
A: I don't think so - I asked Mike (Reynolds), and he doesn't see it happening
either. He is the Emperor, after all. Give credit where credit is due!
Q: On the Home One card, is the orientation the same as the Executor in
that it is a sideways card, like a location, or normal like a regular starship...?
And how much ability do the permanent pilots provide?
Jared, Massachusetts
A: It uses a standard "portrait" orientation. We considered tipping it
over on its side, but the scale between Home One and the Executor didn't justify
it. As for the permanent pilots, check out Home
One.
Q: Just how many Admiral's Orders cards are there in Death Star II?
Johan, Holland
A: There are ten Admiral's Orders in the set, five for each side of the
Force. Look for additional AO's in future sets.
