DEATH STAR II Q & A
By Tom Lischke, Game Designer
PART II
Q: Hey, just wondering. This is a simple question but important for a collector
like myself. Death Star II has 182 cards in the set. When put into a notebook,
this does not work evenly with 9-slot pages. All previous expansions have done
this, why not DSII?
Mike, Texas
A:(*gulp*) Um, I guess we just never thought of that (at least, I didn't).
Good feedback for the future though! To get you through this set, how about reserving
one page for Luke and The Emperor!
Q: I have a birth day coming next weekend and I would like to know when
the Death Star II set will be released. I know you guys are busy but keep up the
good work!
Martin, Walla Walla, Washington (Tom's note: I thought Walla Walla only existed
in Bugs Bunny cartoons. Live and learn!)
A: Thanks Martin, and Happy Birthday! Here's the deal. If you weren't able
to get to one of the pre-releases, look for Death Star II at your retailer on
July 19!

Q: Will you post
the spoilers for the new Luke, Vader and Emperor cards before the release of Death
Star II?
Jerry, Idaho
A: I think you'll be able to track that information down before the 19th
:)
Q: Are there plans to do foils for any cards in Death Star II? It would
be a tragedy not to have an Emperor Foil.
Travis, California
A:No current plans, I think. That being said, there isn't a lot of PD slant
to that question, sooooo, I guess I can't be 100 percent on that.
Q: Is Star Wars CCG going to do anything about the new final duel objectives?
I personally think all objectives are just too powerful, but these just go too
far. Rather than helping create a climax to the game, it will most likely make
many decks (space, toys, etc..) weaker.
Drew, Texas
A: I think you'll find that these Objectives will create some rewarding
storyline driven gameplay, and what could be better than that? I'm not saying
that they don't shake things up a little bit, but that is what keeps the play
environment interesting, right?
Q: Decipher stated a few years ago around the release of the Dagobah expansion
that a version of Emperor Palpatine was drawn up to test Yoda for game balance.
To what extent does the card for the Emperor differ from that initial mock up?
Joruus C'Baoth, UK (Tom's note: I would have thought he'd be from Wayland
or Coruscant. Hmph, shows what I know I guess.)
A:Interesting question! I was just a lowly playtester back then, but I
noticed some dusty boxes laying on the top shelf of the card closet of the PD
House labeled "Dagobah Playtest." Sure enough, I dug up the original version of
old wrinkly, but that is the subject for another article I think!
