DEATH STAR II LAUNCH DAY:
The Circle Is Now Complete
by Geert Van Slambrouck, Red 44
I was on the Star Wars CCG Palace last night. when I suddenly realized - today's
a day for which I've been waiting five years.
I remember reading the first announcement in a gaming magazine in April 1995:
Decipher Inc., maker of the best selling Star Trek CCG,
has acquired the license to create a customizable card game based on the Star
Wars Trilogy by George Lucas.
I was a bit sceptical about this announcement, as 1995
was the year of 100 new card games (to my knowledge 99 are no longer around).
And at that moment the wait seemed extremely long until December, when I was to
buy my very first pack of Star Wars CCG. I opened my first pack and pulled a Solo
Han.
Over these past five years we've been on quite a ride: no less than 9 full sets
have brought us here. Looking at the evidence, we have to say that Lando was wrong,
because, "This Deal Was Getting Better All The Time."
There have been issues....some strategies were too strong, and others were too
weak, and more.
