Supersaver Gungans and More - Economy Light Side Deck Strategy
04/00 - Greg Heisler, Young Jedi World Champion

How do you compete with the decks that are popular right now without spending a lot of money? Well, there are plenty of ways to make a cheap deck that will put up a good fight against those nasty Sith, devastating Tanks, or hording Battle Droids. All you have to have are some commons, uncommons, and a few rares. After that, the rest is easy. Here's a versatile, strategically rich Light Side deck that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

The Light Side Deck

Red Dot
This deckbuilding category is where most of your big, beefy dudes come from. In this slot, you will decide the course your deck takes. The Gungan deck is a great example of an affordable deck.

The best way to use your 10 available red slots in the Gungan deck is probably to use multiple <> people. They are usually have high destiny, and they have a very low damage rate. In this case, they are all 1 damage, good for either fodder or supremacy.

Coruscant Guard: Officer x4
Ithorian: Mercant x3
Naboo Officer: Commander x3

I use four Coruscant Guard cards because this deck is fairly weak on Coruscant, and they are all Power 3 at any site. Plus, all of these characters are destiny 4, which is excellent for weapon draws!

Blue Dot
Here is where you need to play with some rares. Especially in this deck, because you big name people are in this dot. For example, Boss Nass, Captain Tarpals, and of course Jar Jar Binks. In this deck we are going to play with 5 personas of each character.

Jar Jar Binks (any type) x4
Boss Nass (any type) x3
Captain Tarpals (any type) x3

The reason that "any type" is there is that you may use whatever versions of these characters that you see fit to use, according to the play-style of your area. The Battle of Naboo expansion Jar Jar Binks is very useful though against Tanks, which are very deadly indeed.

Green Dot
You can play all of those lovable Gungans that you've just been waiting to play! Almost all of the <>Gungans are marked with the green deck-building dot. So, whatever type you would like to play is ok. I would suggest the following, or something like it.

Gungan Warrior: Veteran x4
Gungan General: Army Leader x2
Gungan Soldier: Infantry x2
Gungan Guard: Lookout x2

Orange Dot
Where weapons come into play. Weapons are the main key to this game. Match the right weapons to your deck or you're in a lot of trouble. The great thing about this deck's weapons is that they're all common or uncommon! A good variety of weapons will give you a more well rounded deck. These are the weapons that I would suggest, but feel free to vary.

Fambaa x2
Kaadu x2
Jar Jar's Electropole x2
Captain Tarpals Electropole x2
Heavy Blaster x2

Yellow Dot
This is what makes your deck really work together the way it should. Battle Cards and Effects are what make a battle a success or a failure. In the Gungan Deck, we will put in a whole bunch of different types of battle cards and some effects. Here are the cards that I have chosen for this deck.

Meeeesa Like Dis!
Your Occupation Here Has Ended
Da Beings Hereabouts Cawazy
Emperor Palpatine
Gungan Battle Cry
The Negotiations Were Short
Celebration
Uh-Oh!
Bombad General

Now how's that for variety!! This deck has so many characters of the same type that you can do this - using one copy of each of the 10 cards. Now, for any other deck this is very hard. But, not for the Gungans!

Purple Dot
The last dot. This is the easiest slot of them all if you know what type of deck you're playing against. Use 3 sites and 7 starships and transports. This is the most standard configuration for any deck that I use, and would suggest it to everybody. So here's the last of the cards for your new deck!

Naboo: Gungan Swamp
Tatooine: Mos Espa
Coruscant: Capital City
Bravo 1 x2
Republic Transport x5

You're done! If you're going to use this deck in a tournament, get to know this deck's cards and how the deck operates against various opposing strategies. Do that by playtesting your new deck against your friends and buddies. Good luck, Padawan!
